Re-Licked spans ten years of Soul of Man’s highly influential productions, the first of this double CD package featuring an assortment of remixes courtesy of a whole host of prolific talented producers (and self-confessed Soul of Man fans) turning out stunning retakes on their own favourite singles. On the first of the three-part vinyl release ‘The Drum’ gets an awesome funk assault from the award winning Groove Diggerz. The pair, who even took their name from an early Finger Lickin’ release, have turned out a vibey percussive workout that retains the character of the original yet takes it even deeper. Meanwhile the delectable ‘Acid Punch’ completes the package with a hearty chunk of electro-glitch-funk from men of the moment Brothers Bud, the midlanders who have already been making noise this year with their own highly successful releases on the Finger Lickin’ imprint.
